This is a tracking category for CS1 citations that have name-holding parameters containing some form of 'et al.'
Explicit use of et al. in: |<param>=
This error occurs where a Citation Style 1 or Citation Style 2 template detects that one of the names parameters contains some form of "et al." either as a separate name parameter (|author6=et al.
) or as a suffix added to a name list (|author=Smith, A.B. et al.
) or first name (|first=John, et al.
).
This error can occur in any of the author, editor, interviewer, translator, or contributor parameters.
Use the |display-authors=
parameter instead (or other applicable |display-<names>=
parameter), as documented at Help:Citation Style 1#Display options.
