finiki has had a series of logos in its history before arriving at the current logo. This article attempts to capture some of the historical images and their timelines.
February 2009
When finiki was launched it adopted a stylized maple leaf as the logo. There is no record history of why this image was selected or its source.
December 2016
Somewhat mysteriously, on the morning of December 17, 2016 a new logo appeared. A couple of days later a slightly refined (font change) was introduced to address some letter spacing issues.
Special dates
To commemorate Remembrance Day on November 11th, the finiki logo is changed to a poppy logo.
February 2023
With the change to the new Vector-2022 default skin it was noticed there was logo spacing problem on mobile devices that made any wiki page displayed on a mobile device look poorly designed and implemented.
MediaWiki supports using a wordmark and tagline in addition to the logo. The wordmark is a graphic representation of the sitename, i.e. finiki. The implementation details are covered in Manual:$wgLogos.
On February 28, 2023 the new logo, wordmark and tagline were implemented on the wiki. Their appearance is captured below.

Further research uncovered guidance available in MediaWiki's Manual:MediaWiki_logo_guidelines which covers MediaWiki's choice for the font to write the wordmark is Montserrat with the following parameters:
- Semi-bold 600
- Font height: 110%
- Letter spacing: -20 in Photoshop and -0.02em in CSS
- The dots above the letter "i" are lowered to match the height of taller letters
Our wordmark and tagline were recreated using Google's Montserrat font.
