Shakespeare's Primer

From finiki, the Canadian financial wiki

Shakespeare's Primer was written several years ago by Financial Wisdom Forum (FWF) member and founder[1] "Shakespeare" to aid Canadian Do-It-Yourself (DIY) investors. It serves as a primer for Canadian do-it-yourself (DIY) investors who wish to manage their own investment portfolio.

The primer is aimed at individuals who will be using their investment portfolio as the main source of retirement income. Its objective is to educate investors on how to take control of their investments in a cost-effective manner.[2] Although the fundamental principles remain sound, it has not been updated for some years.[3]

Keith Betty, aka "Shakespeare", passed away July 4, 2023.[4]

Contribution to finiki

A significant portion of the materials from Shakespeare's Primer provided much of the foundation of finiki, particularly the Portfolio design and construction article and many others.[5]

History

The Internet Wayback Machine's first record of the Primer is August 23, 2003, [6] although the site's Change Log[7] indicates the log was initiated on 2002 October 4.

In November 2020 Shakespeare's Primer found a new permanent home with FWF[8] where it will be maintained essentially as an archive.
